“For participation in public and social life, the constant accompaniment of affected people by their assistance dog is central. In order to make it easier for assistance dog teams in Dortmund to access administrative facilities, sports and leisure, health and shopping facilities, the City of Dortmund is participating in the nationwide access campaign “Assistance Dog Welcome”. We want to raise awareness about this important issue and set a good example,” says Mayor Thomas Westphal.

Pfotenpiloten would like to thank Toto and Hanni in particular for their continued commitment over so many years to making Dortmund assistance dog friendly and educating fellow citizens about assistance dogs. Assistenzhunde NRW has also joined us in promoting an assistance dog friendly Dortmund.

The “Assistance Dog Friendly Municipality” campaign was made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the Aktion Mensch, #AktionMenschGefördert.
